Seesmart’s retrofit for Regis High School began by replacing the light fixtures in the gymnasium with LED fixtures. After seeing the results in the gym the administration decided to replace all of the school’s lighting with LED fixtures. Fluorescent lights were replaced with Seesmart led flood light in over 100 classrooms, offices, and other educational spaces, as well as extensive hallways. The changeover included 967 new or retrofitted fixtures. Installation began in January 2012 and was almost fully completed in just three months.The project consists of hazardous and non-hazardous LED lighting fixtures, including high bay, low bay, linear and wallpack fixture types and was designed and specified by the energy team at Honeywell International in Puerto Rico.

The Zhaga Consortium has published its second interface specification for LED
light engines. Zhaga Interface Specification Book 2 can now be downloaded from
the organization’s website.In addition, Zhaga has created a database of
certified products, which are all commercially available. The database will be
constantly updated as new certified products reach the market.Zhaga is an
international consortium of companies from throughout the lighting industry. Its
main role is to develop interface specifications (known as Books) that enable
the interchangeability of LED light engines made by different manufacturers.The
publication of Book 2 provides full access to this specification for the entire
lighting industry, not just Zhaga members, allowing companies to design their
products to be interchangeable with other Zhaga-based products,” said Menno
Treffers, secretary-general of the Zhaga Consortium.
Zhaga Interface Specification Book 2 describes a cylindrical, socketable LED light engine with integrated electronic control gear.The light engine has maximum dimensions of 70.2 mm and 45 mm height. The diameter of the circular light-emitting surface is typically 59 mm. The light engine can be locked into a holder in the luminaire by means of a twisting motion.The availability of Zhaga-certified products demonstrates that the specifications developed by Zhaga are being utilized by a range of companies in the lighting industry,” said Menno Treffers. “Other products are currently going through the certification process, and we expect to add many more products to the database in the coming months.Each interface specification, or Book, is developed by cooperation between the member companies of Zhaga. LED lighting makes it possible to manipulate the color
The active materials in LEDs have become so efficient and stable that research is currently shifting to the development of nanostructures that allow control over the directional distribution, the spectrum and the brightness of LED light, and the white light produced after the conversion of blue LED light by phosphors. This project will address the simultaneous optimization of all of these factors using nanostructures.Dr Jan ten Thije Boonkkamp, Mathematics Section, Mathematics and Computer Science Department, Eindhoven University of Technology. Ray-tracing is a common simulation technique in optical design. However, the technique is expensive and imprecise when simulating fine details. The objective of this project is to combine this technique with visualization of the phase space of the optical system. This makes it possible to split the Wholesale Led high bay light phase space into a small number of ray sets. The new method will make the design of optical systems better, faster and cheaper. This will give rise to shorter development times for new prototypes of lamps and light sources that use LEDs.

This project examines whether pulsed LED lighting can bring about improved processing of excited electrons and therefore increase photosynthesis efficiency.The Chinese government views the growth of the LED industry as a national security matter. As a result, it is driving a vast LED manufacturing effort and offering Agent of floodlight subsidies from central and local government agencies to help build its own LED industry. In 2010, China embarked on an ambitious “Many Cities, Many Lights” program for streetlamp lighting to help its own LED industry. can spill light in unwanted directions, resulting in glare, non-uniform light
patterns, upward-reflected light, and wasted energy. In some cases, nearly
nearly half the light is lost by the light flooding horizontally and vertically,
and conventional street lamp design has trouble adapting to different street
lighting layouts, whether the lamps are set in the middle of the road, above it
or in a zigzag pattern.The research team proposes a new LED street lamp design
based on a three-part lighting fixture, with the first part containing a cluster
of high-efficiency LEDs. These use Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lenses, which

The LED street lamp was studied in simulation to determine the spread at a distance of 10 meters (33 ft) from the light source. This was measured by the team as the optical utilization factor (OUF), which describes the relationship between the flow rate of light at the target and the flow rate of light coming directly out of the LEDs. A higher OUF indicates better performance.The simulation showed an OUF of 51 to 81 percent, compared to a conventional street lamp’s “excellent” performance of 45 percent. The proposed street lamp loses only two percent of its light as direct pollution and reduces energy consumption by 40 to 60 percent. The team also claims that the new lamp is relatively easy to fabricate because it only has four parts, with the LED component already an industry.

One Angel Square is the UK’s first outstanding BREEAM-rated building, designed to halve the current energy usage of the Co-op headquarters. The use of pioneering sustainable technology in the new building reduces carbon consumption by around 80 percent and significantly reduces energy costs for the company. Luxonic, through its own commitment to the environment in the design and manufacture of its luminaries, contributes to the energy efficiency of the Manchester building whilst providing a solution that integrates effortlessly with its architectural character.
Approximately 8,000 of Luxonic’s luminaries used throughout the headquarters are bespoke, designed specifically for One Angel Square to integrate with the chilled beam system in both the office and meeting spaces. The unobtrusive nature of the led high bay light linear luminaries gives these working spaces a contemporary and stylish feel. The Luxonic Flat-Lens FPO luminaries use a micro-prismatic lens to control light in the offices whilst maintaining high levels of efficiency. The slim beams include a directional uplight component that emphasises the clean lines of the coffered ceiling and also reduces the amount of light spill behind the chilled beam.
