As growing adoption of LEDs for large-size backlighting and general lighting applications, MPI expected sales of its led high bay light tools to grow in 2011, and the company thought the market penetration rate for LED applications in the global lighting market would reach 50% by 2015.In the wafer probe cards, the company also optimistically predicted its sales would be up by testing demand for 12-inch wafers and the rising number of new clients.

Epistar's October revenues decreased by 7% sequentially but increased 34% on year to NT$1.71 billion (US$56.64 million). Accumulated revenues from January to October totaled NT$16.66 billion, up 64.5% on year. The reason why the October revenues dropped was weaker than expected demand for notebook and TV backlighting, as well as the traditional weak season for small- to medium-size products.
