because daytime running lamps are not required in most countries

A typical DRL solution with incandescent or halogen bulbs uses 40-80 Watts of power. LUXEON-based DRLs consume 10 Watts of power or less because of the technology s low power demands and energy efficiency.Given these benefits, any new regulation requiring DRLs is expected to drive broader LUXEON adoption for daytime running lamps as well as other forward automotive lighting applications.Today LED DRLs are used on fewer than 1% of vehicles, in part because daytime running lamps are not required in most countries.

If the new regulation by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe moves ahead as expected, it will increase that number dramatically because of the low power usage, longevity and design flexibility of LEDs compared to conventional light sources," said Scott Kern, Vice President, Automotive Sales, for Philips Lumileds.LUXEON LEDs promise to lead the market because of their reliability, high quality white light, and proven performance in the automotive industry." Over the years, Philips Lumileds has pioneered many automotive exterior lighting applications with its LUXEON, SuperFlux and SnapLED products.

In addition to driving the industry s first all-LED daytime running lamp and all-LED headlamp, the company s solid-state lighting technology has enabled the world s first all-LED rear combination lamp, first single-LED stop-tail lamp, first LED front-, rear- and side-mirror turn signals.About Philips Lumileds yaham Lumileds is the world s leading provider of power LEDs for everyday lighting applications. The company s recent records for light output, efficacy and thermal management are direct results of the ongoing commitment to advancing solid-state lighting technology and enabling lighting solutions that are more environmentally friendly, help reduce CO2 emissions and reduce the need for power plant expansion.

the board is the move to LED lighting in all our public areas by the end of 2013

Daintree Networks and Cree are already working together with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, delivering the joint solution at a wholesale distributor. The retrofit to the office and breakroom resulted in more than 91 percent savings.Once the GSA has completed findings, then it can recommend technologies to some or all of its portfolio. With more than 370 million square feet of building stock, if the GSA widely implements a technology, it can easily push the entire market forward.

For the federal agency, 2015 isn’t the endgame when it comes to meeting energy efficiency goals. Even once that mandate is met, the GSA then needs to turn its focus to net-zero energy designs by 2020, said Powell, who noted that taking the heat out of lighting by using LEDs will likely be a component of those designs. We have a great deal of incentive to roll out technologies that prove out as quickly as possible,” he said.Rezidor has announced over 300 of its hotels worldwide will switch to energy efficient LEDs by the end of 2013.According to Inge Huijbrechts, director of responsible business at Rezidor, the owner of the Radisson, Missoni, and Regent hotel brands has signed a deal with Philips to complete the transformation of its portfolio as part of its ThinkPlanet sustainability plan.

The Think Planet programme is aiming to deliver a 25 per cent reduction in energy consumption by 2016 and is expected to save the company 25m over the same period by focusing on relatively simple, low cost improvements. One of the things we're going to do across the board is the move to LED lighting in all our public areas by the end of 2013," Huijbrechts said. "Philips will provide technical assistance and design assistance for the different hotels because it's very important to choose the right lighting and take into account aspects like dimming and transformers, etc."Additionally, Huijbrechts said the return on investment for larger renewable energy installations was too long for the company to consider, but added that she would push to set up supply deals with clean electricity providers.

the new generation of lighting professionals

The fourth Professional Lighting Design Convention will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from 31. October to 2. November, 2013, following in the footsteps of PLDC 2007 in London, UK, PLDC 2009 in Berlin, Germany and led high bay light 2011 in Madrid, Spain.Already the organisers can monitor an increased interest in the event and related activities. Compared with the same point in time two years ago, the organisers have recorded a rise in traffic on the PLDC website of 70%!PLDC 2013 will offer more activities, more opportunities for learning, exchange and discussion, and expects to attract more attendees from the global lighting world.

Based on the successful proven concept, PLDC will again be built around a three-day professional conference offering approximately 70 presentations given by high-profile speakers. A manufacturers’ exhibition of high-quality partners from industry will be accompanying the event – the exhibition hall also offers space for activity areas and interactive sessions, inviting all attendees to play an even more active role in the Professional Lighting Design Community.

The Call for Papers has been published and addresses both experienced practising professional lighting designers as well as the new generation of lighting professionals, plus dedicated researchers and educators, and professionals from related disciplines, whose work affects and led flood light involves professional lighting designers. PLDC is an educational event which encourages lighting professionals to share their insight and know-how, and where even the most skilled masters of the art can learn from newcomers.

which are fitted in the car park

The challenging combination of ambitious carbon reduction commitments and increasingly restricted budgets faced by the healthcare sector makes the appeal of energy-efficient lighting solutions stronger than ever. Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals led high bay light identified LEDs as “a technology that offered considerable energy and cost savings with minimal disruption to the building” and commissioned Light Planet to replace traditional lighting in the car parks, washrooms, offices and corridors of the Royal Sussex County Hospital with highly efficient LED alternatives.

Reduced energy consumption is particularly important in areas of the hospital that, due to health and safety, must be lit for 24 hours a day, such as washrooms and car parks. Light Planet’s LED floodlights, which are fitted in the car park, operate at only 49W and offer a very high-quality light output and a life-span of approximately 7 years. Compared with the previous traditional 150W fixtures that need replacing every 2 years, this product alone facilitates a major reduction in energy and maintenance bills and has achieved a saving of around £17,000.

The benefits that LED technology offers in terms of hygiene and patient care are also important drivers for adoption in this sector. For example, the LED edge-lit ceiling panels installed at led flood light have a single flat surface that makes them much easier to clean than conventional four-tube fluorescent fittings. Furthermore, the clearer, whiter and more natural light output of LEDs offers a more comfortable environment for patients and staff alike and mimics daylight, the positive psychological impact of which is well documented.

this is just the first of many apps to come

This is the first step to a complete service offering,” said Tom Pincince, president and CEO of Digital led flood light. He noted that increased savings can come from fine-tuning daylight harvesting values or by understanding patterns in shifts of the day or seasonality. “We’re providing a level of diagnostic service and using the knowledge of our system to continuously optimize the settings.”

For Digital Lumens, this is just the first of many apps to come, said Pincince. Even though installing LEDs can save significant amounts of energy, people will still override settings, or lights can still be left on when no one is in the room. “”We’re seeing opportunities over time to make sure things don’t go off commission,” said Pincince.

For the first year Digital Lumens customers can get LightRules Monitor at no charge, but it will eventually be offered as a layered service. The additional measurement and verification capability will allow some customers to invest in the LED system as a lighting-as-a-service program, rather than an outright capital upgrade.Eventually, the led high bay light system and sensors could also offer other energy savings. Large customers may have building management systems, but Pincince said that for many of Digital Lumens’ customers, the system is the first intelligent thing that has been installed in the building.

who prefer earthen lamps to perform puja in a traditional way

But since the sale of electronics goods has picked up, the traditional diyas, considered auspicious, has slumped. The festival of Diwali has undergone many changes over the years. Fancy alternatives to traditional 'diyas' have hampered the livelihood of several potters of the city. There were years when my entire family would get busy for months together to meet the demand of earthen lamps and other traditional earthen items for the festival of lights, but now the demand has decreased substantially as people are opting for designer and fancy lamps and cheap electric strings making a dent on our earnings", said a potter of Balughat locality of the city, led flood light who is in fourth generation of a family in the business of making diyas and clay idols.

There is no doubt the festival has undergone radical changes with advancement in technology replacing items of decoration and illumination too, but show me one house where people do not light either candles or diyas because customs and traditions never change. There are still some who prefer earthen lamps to perform puja in a traditional way," said Prof R K Singh of Allahabad University.Though traditional earthen lamps have not lost their significance entirely, people of Sangam city have found a novel way of adding to the festivity with decorative lamps and lights made in China. "Blame it on technology that has provided affordable alternatives to Indian shoppers in fancy candles and Chinese lights. Not only are these lamps available at cheaper rates in a wide variety, they are a profitable deal for the shopkeepers too", said Tulsidas, a shopkeeper.

According to traders, the main reason for the decline in the demand for earthen lamps during Diwali is the wide variety of Chinese electric lights, which are fancy, attractive and can be bought at reasonable prices in the Indian market. The method of lighting an earthen lamp is time-consuming and the rising prices of oil and ghee used in lighting them could be the reason for preferring artificial lights by most people," said Kiran, a housewife.Besides around one quintal of adulterated and stale led high bay light was seized and desroyed by the raiding party. The samples collected from the spot would be sent to the state laboratory for examination after which necessary action would be taken.
