Therefore there still exists some problems to be settled

Under this tend, the estimated shipment of MOCVD equipment in 2010 is expected to reach 662, equal to the sum total of the previous three years, and 2011 will maintain or even exceed this. The unit selling price of MOCVD equipment is about US$1-2 million. Because a maximum subsidy of 50% led high bay light from the Chinese government, an upsurge of LED investment and a boom in MOCVD purchases in China is stimulated.

At present, a large number of MOCVD equipments have been bought in and the LED project in Wuhu alone needs more than 200 sets of MOCVD equipment. A single set of MOCVD equipment possesses over 2,000 parameters, thus, it is not so easy to produce qualified products. Besides, there are numerous thresholds for LED patents, and lack of vigilance could cause trouble with infringements. Some firms, especially Nichia, are never bored with patent lawsuits. Therefore there still exists some problems to be settled.

Compared with LCD counterparts, LED sets tend to be more expensive, however, they also offer better performance in terms of both quality and sustainability. As Mr Zutshi said, "LEDs are much better in terms of picture quality, style, display and long-term reliability. The agreement includes patents from both parties in the fields of blue LED chip technology, white LED Linear high bay light and phosphors (including remote phosphors), control systems, LED luminaires and lamps ,LED backlighting of LCDs and patents in the Philips LED Luminaire Licensing Program.

which uses multiple LEDs in a wide variety of use conditions

The addition of a new UV LED reactor will allow SemiLEDs to continue to build on the momentum of the rapidly growing UV LED market and confirms our position and commitment as a top supplier of led high bay light,” said Dr. Chuong Tran, SemiLEDs President and COO. “The addition of the new reactor will enable us to further improve the support and service we provide to a growing list of companies dedicated to the UV market through our broad portfolio of UV LEDs.

Lumileds said the new white paper goes beyond simple lumen maintenance data which describes how a single LED behaves and addresses the more common lighting system which uses multiple LEDs in a wide variety of use conditions.

An LED luminaire's usable life is determined by a manufacturer's determination of expected lumen maintenance and by the actual usable life of the many components included in the system. Each of the LED high bay lighting components must be analyzed independently in order to provide an accurate assessment.

the control and dimming of compact fluorescent lamps and LED lamps

Different moods, activities and times of the day require different light levels. Digitally controlled and infinitely variable digitally dimmable lights, for example at the workplace, not only save energy, but also ensure the right ambience at any given time. With Dulux Intelligent Dim Lamps by OSRAM, replacing conventional incandescent led high bay light with compact fluorescent lamps is simple and straightforward.

Working with dimmer manufacturers Insta, Berker, Gira and Jung, OSRAM is currently in the process of developing Leditron, the new industrial standard and the "future of dimming".The new Dulux Intelligent Dim Lamps with Leditron technology are the right choice forpremium applications such as hotels or restaurants, offices or in the home. In modern systems for the control and dimming of compact fluorescent lamps and LED lamps, they are immediately ready for use without addressing.

Even greater lighting comfort in combination with energy savings will be available in the very near future thanks to a new dimmer and control technology currently under joint development by OSRAM and dimmer manufacturers Berker, Gira, Jung and Insta. Under the motto "The future of dimming", the companies present the new Leditron standard at the Light + Building 2010 trade fair.

Up to now, only a few models of compact fluorescent lamps - or energy saving lamps – have been suitable for dimming. Occasional accompaniments such as flickering or uneven dimming will be made a thing of the past thanks to Leditron.
The basic principle of LED high bay lighting this new technology is to replace dimmers by control units and to send the control information via the mains to the lights connected to a particular circuit. In this way, not only the brightness of the lamps can be varied, but for suitable lights on LED basis, the idea is also to control the light colour simply and standard-compliant.

our design is a sneak preview into the future of light

Marl will offer the full Lumoluce series, which is a modular system based on aluminium construction with a 2.3W LED module, driver and connectors. These assemblies deliver the same light output as a 25W – 35W halogen bulb but use 90% less power – and even save 35% of energy costs of standard energy saving lamps. The Lumoluce range includes an extensive selection of fittings in different shapes and sizes, with different configurations of LED lamps, to meet every conceivable lighting requirement and application.

Visitors can enter, walk through the installation and see for themselves that in future lighting will no longer have to be produced from just one central point by individual luminaires. Where conventional luminaire designs dictated the approach in the past, these organic light-emitting diodes provide unprecedented creative freedom. “With OLED architecture has been given a new building material which will change our perception of space and light – our design is a sneak preview into the future of light”, says Professor Andreas Schulz.

These applications will be demonstrated at the show stand – a display case with integrated OLED panels shows the opportunities that coloured or white light sources provide. A light fixture with 90 Orbeos can display exhibits and merchandise in museums and retail stores especially impressively. With the warm, soft and glare-free light of OLED, exhibits in museums can be staged far more naturally and impressively than with conventional harsh lighting effects.

LED fixtures can be operated at three light levels

The Cree LR6 recessed downlights in the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law rotunda consume 85-percent less energy than the incandescent fixtures they replaced, and are designed to last 50,000 hours, compared to approximately 1,000 hours for an incandescent bulb.

As we look ahead and anticipate rising energy costs, investing in LED technology becomes even more attractive. Community feedback on the initial lights has been overwhelmingly positive. Valdez citizens like the quality and color of the new LED lights and they are happy about the projected energy and maintenance cost savings.”

The YAHAM LED fixtures can be operated at three light levels. Initially, the fixtures will be operated at a higher setting for maximum light output during the winter months, when snow removal activities require high light levels. Going forward, city officials can choose to switch the lights to a lower operating level, depending on actual light-level requirements, which can potentially increase energy savings to 60 percent.

The iW3610 uses advanced digital control technology to automatically detect and operate seamlessly with a leading edge or a trailing edge dimmer or if no dimmer is present. In case of an un-supported dimmer, the device shuts down and goes into a fail-safe mode. The device is compatible with existing wall dimmers available worldwide and allows parallel lamp operation for true retrofit replacement of incandescent bulbs, halogen lamps and linear fluorescent tubes.

The iW3610 operates in quasi-resonant mode and employs adaptive gate drive control and iWatt’s proprietary EZ EMI technology to achieve high efficiency and a low EMI signature. Depending on the application, efficiencies greater than 80% and power factor greater than 0.9 are easily achievable. The iW3610’s maximum operating frequency of 200kHz enables LED designers to use smaller size components to design driver boards that are small enough to fit inside existing bulb and lamp housing or inside fluorescent tubes. In addition to the standard protection features, the iW3610 also provides over-temperature protection using an external NTC resistor for robust protection. Moreover, the IC provides temperature drift control of the LED driver current to ensure that the LEDs will never operate outside of their recommended safe operating area.

Configured in size and features for MR16 LED replacements, the first reference design describes a built and tested 3 watt (W) to 5 W LED driver solution for driving high-brightness LEDS (HB-LEDs). The second design is targeted at designers looking to achieve compliance with the ENERGY STAR 1.1 requirements for led high bay light in residential luminaire applications and describes a built and tested off-line GreenPoint solution for an isolated 8 W constant current LED driver.

LED light extraction and printing technology

Led do Brasil will represent our LED components, from high-brightness to lighting-class led high bay light,” said Vince Feorenzo, Cree sales director. “We look forward to spreading the LED lighting revolution in Brazil, demonstrating how LED lighting can save energy, save money and help protect the planet.”

The Intematix "phosphor-paint" retail signage solution implements a carefully designed, 50,000 hour backlight grid of royal-blue LEDs that excite the sign's photoluminescent display surface. In contrast to conventional backlit signage, in which the display surface filters white light to generate a desired color, the phosphor-paint actually generates the desired colors of light over the entire display surface. The result is high-visibility and visual quality in the sign's unlit daytime state, and vivid, "eye-popping" color, similar to neon signage, when lit.

Remote phosphor solutions have previously been applied to individual LEDs and in LED light fixtures. Intematix has created an innovative solution by marrying the elements – phosphor, blue LED excitation, LED light extraction and printing technology – and scaling the solution up to the level of retail signage, all while making sure it would deliver on the long life promise. Intematix emphasized that it had strong pending patents for the innovation, covering all aspects of the technology for phosphor-based signage based on LED backlighting.

While LEDs are more environmentally friendly

While LEDs are more environmentally friendly than halogen bulbs, new technologies for heat management and efficient servicing have made them easier to install, too. LED landscape lighting offers many benefits to commercial outdoor lighting and residential outdoor lighting projects, including energy savings, superior reliability, elimination of toxic materials and unique fixture designs.

According to NEEP, manufacturers need only to submit product data once to be considered for more than twenty utility and state efficiency programs throughout the Northeast, Midwest, Northwest, California and Canada. Utility program administrators save time not having to review individual manufacturers' specifications and can be assured that qualified LED fixtures meet energy efficiency, color quality, and projected lifetime requirements.DLC analysts examine manufacturer's test reports, passing or failing applications based on performance criteria. Products which meet the minimum DLC performance criteria are then added to the DLC Qualified Products List. The list is available to all DLC Sponsors and Participants to use in their programs for promoting SSL projects.

We see great potential for led high bay light in Brazil,” said Paulo Taminato, LED do Brasil Comercio de Produtos Eletronicos Ltda. Commercial Manager. “Later in December, we are holding a seminar about designing with Cree LEDs and the response has been overwhelming. I believe we can help reduce our country’s energy consumption for lighting with the deployment of energy-efficient LEDs.”

LED products for the office space were chosen based on performance

Part of a cost-saving initiative that began in late 2007, the decision to use LEDs was twofold. Arrow Components Mexico wanted to invest in a long-term savings initiative while creating a showroom for LED technology for customers and suppliers. “Many of our customers in Mexico have been hesitant to adopt LEDs due to their comfort levels with fluorescent led high bay light,” said David Hoffmann, regional vice president at Arrow Electronics. “In order to accelerate the introduction of LEDs to the market, we knew we would have to use and promote the technology ourselves.”

LED products for the office space were chosen based on performance, cost savings and low maintenance. For example, the overhead LEDs accomplish all three objectives, as they offer the same brightness as fluorescent lighting but use about half the electricity. Additionally, because LEDs do not radiate heat, air conditioning expenses were reduced as well. Despite a higher initial cost for the LED fixtures, the payback is between two and three years depending on utility costs, and the lamps are guaranteed for 10 years.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have jointly issued a statement outlining each agency's responsibilities and roles in the Energy Star products program. the brightness increases, so does the total amount of heat

Toshiba Lighting & Technology improved luminous efficiency by dispersing more than a hundred LED chips in a large package to prevent heat from concentrating. For its previous products, the company used Nichia Corp's general-purpose LED package. But, this time, Toshiba Lighting & Technology developed its own LED package, aiming at a total flux 1.5 times higher than that of the company's former product that is equivalent to a 40W incandescent lamp in terms of total flux.
However, as the brightness increases, so does the total amount of heat. Therefore, the company elongated the chassis by 10mm to 119mm to expand the radiating area.

an innovator of LED lighting systems and technologies, has introduced its next generation of fully-controllable white LED lighting products and for myriad high-quality general illumination applications. Enfis will be making these systems available immediately through its North American distributors and specialist partners.Last year, Enfis achieved a major breakthrough with an LED-based white light technology that produces high quality white light which can be controlled over a range of color temperatures from warm to cool shades of light. This proprietary technology couples advances in white LEDs with Enfis’ patented Sentinel? SMART control technology, achieving a high-quality white light solution for the general illumination market.

Enfis’ smart and efficient white light technology leverages the advanced control capabilities of Sentinel to give users an entirely new level of white light flexibility. It is unique in that it can produce a high color rendering index (CRI), resulting in high-quality light across the entire spectrum of white. For example, users would have the ability to select any shade of white light they desire, whether it is warmer tones for more comfortable hospitality or home lighting, or cooler tones that make the most of certain retail displays. What's more, smart and efficient white light can be programmed for a variety of effects, including gradually changing shades of white over time (ideal for day into evening lighting) or turning on and off based on motion sensing (a great energy saver for corporate or public space applications).

Enfis’ smart and efficient lighting solutions simplify white lighting designs by giving users the ability to choose white light temperatures points on a gamut displayed in the Sentinel 2.2 software. Enfis’ LED array specifications and temperature characteristics have been integrated into the Sentinel v2.2 software content library, which supports Enfis’ LED controllers.LED architectural lighting systems require reliable and long-distance transmission. the DOE Solid State Lighting Program

Under terms of the contract, Universal Display will deliver a set of under-cabinet lighting units to the DOE. Each unit will consist of five 6” x 6” white PHOLED lighting panels. The units will be designed to provide comparable performance to existing under-cabinet systems, have a system efficiency of > 60 lumens per watt, and exhibit a significantly thinner form factor than conventional under-cabinet lighting products currently in the market. This thin form factor has the potential to expand the array of possible under-cabinet lighting design concepts and to simplify product installation. This is the second potential commercial lighting application in development by Universal Display. In 2008, the Company began working with Armstrong World Industries on a ceiling-based LED lighting system, also supported, in part, through the DOE Solid State Lighting Program.

The DOE has made a long-term commitment to advance the development and introduction of energy-efficient white lighting sources for general illumination. According to industry estimates, electric bills for lighting alone are over $200 billion per year on a worldwide basis. It has been estimated that by 2016, white OLEDs could generate well over $20 billion in worldwide savings of electricity costs and could save over nine million metric tons of carbon emissions from the U.S. alone.Barco has just announced that it has signed a deal in Abu Dhabi for the delivery of 14 LED displays for the new Yas Marina Circuit. In total 452 square meter of LED will be installed around the track to optimize the fans' viewing experience. Initial projects have included entertainment

One of the major stumbling blocks in widespread SSL adoption, is the perceived complexity and, therefore, cost and risk of integrating a LED-based light engine into a luminaire: either retro-fitting an existing design or optimizing a new luminaire” said Shaun Oxenham Enfis CEO. “The LEC has been developed over the last twelve months to address this problem. It now provides the skills and resources for Enfis customers to integrate and evaluate very rapidly and so realize the benefit from our smart, compact, efficient SSL light sources with significant reduction in time to market together with reduced cost and risk. Initial projects have included entertainment, task and street lighting, with more in the pipeline already, and feedback to date has been excellent”.

The LEC is staffed by highly skilled engineers and is equipped with mechanical, thermal and optical modelling, together with hardware, software and electronic prototyping, and test and evaluation equipment. This comprehensive suite of capabilities can turn a concept into reality in a fraction of the time normally taken for such activities.

LEDs provide an optimal spectrum of light for growing plants inside

The company had planned to invest about 150 billion won ($120.6 million) in its domestic LED plant, but Hur said that amount "will be nowhere near enough; our capital expenditure will rise faster than expected". The comapny is considering options to raise cash without hurting the company's financial base.

The company already has plans to issue convertible bonds and bonds with warrants in August to raise 100 billion won in total. While securing cash internally, issuing new shares could be one option, though there was no firm plan for a fund-raising deal in the second half, the executives said.

Product Specialist Matthew Alexander says, "Unlike other lighting options, LEDs provide an optimal spectrum of light for growing plants inside. Just as important, they can be a safer alternative to incandescent light bulbs because they don't generate as much heat."

LED Grow Lights may be more expensive than incandescent options on the surface, but over time they offer real value. Gardeners won't have to change light bulbs as often, as LED Grow Lights last up to 50,000 hours (which equates to more than five years between changes).

"A common misconception is that people need a greenhouse, a lot of space, or a lot of expensive equipment to successfully garden indoors," says Alexander. "With LED Grow Lights, that isn't the case. The LED lights can cover a few square feet or as much as 50 square feet depending on the model. That means consumers can have an indoor garden as big, or small, as they want it to be."

The National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed a joint agreement “Green Lights Project” to promote the use of energy-saving lamps (ESLs) in China. China has announced that it plans to gradually phase out incandescent lamps in three years. As a majority of LED chips in China are acquired from Taiwan, this project will certainly serve Taiwan LED chip makers a long-term order on a silver platter.

it makes sense to switch to an LED light source

Available in both dimmable 12V bi-pin and E27 medium screw base versions, the ELED MR16 5W lamps are powered by 5 watts of high-output Nichia LEDs – the equivalent of a 50W halogen bulb. Yet they consume a maximum of 5 watts of power, so they will significantly reduce users’ electric bills, providing a return on investment in a very short time. Another bright spot for lighting users -- and the environment – is the LEDs’ long life, rated at 40,000 hours, which will drastically cut lamp replacement costs and reduce the amount of waste going into landfills.

Both lamp-base versions are offered in Warm White (2,700K) and Neutral White (3,500K), and in choice of either 30° or 60° beam angle. This versatility, combined with their powerful output and the dimming capability of the bi-pin version, make the ELED MR16 5W lamps ideal for a wide range of applications – from offices and stores, to hotels and restaurants, and even private homes.

“As energy costs and environmental concerns have risen, more business operators and homeowners are finding that it makes sense to switch to an LED light source,” said Eric Loader, Director of Sales for Elation Professional. “The trend will only continue to gain momentum in the future. Our ELED MR16 5W Series was designed to offer economically-priced, easy-to-use replacement white LED lamps that deliver superior light output and can fit a variety of applications, while delivering the cost-saving and environmental benefits associated with LEDs. We have compared these lamps to other popular models on the market, and it outperforms all competitors so far – especially at this price point.

new retrofit product offers all the advantages of LED lighting

LED is a solid-state light source, and there’s no failure mechanism or degradation anywhere close to lamp systems,” says Matt Mazzuchi, general manager of the projection display business group at Luminus Devices, whose YAHAM Light LED chipset has been employed in the first LED theater projectors. “We’ve put 3 million to 4 million device hours under test, to where these projectors are showing incredible stability, so we’re comfortable saying things like ‘there’s a 60,000-hour lifetime’ on them.Luminus’ LEDs have been used in pocket projectors from LG, Samsung, Toshiba, Acer, BenQ and others before it showed off Full HD resolution DLP projectors from Delta and Chi Lin at January’s Consumer Electronics Show.

In addition to their long lifespan, LED projectors feature far better color saturation compared with traditional projectors, says Mazzuchi. Because reds, greens and blues are pulsed directly to the optics without going through the spinning and chopping of an ordinary projector’s color wheel, colors are richer and more saturated, with less “breakup” or “rainbow artifacts,” he explains. Also, as LED projectors don’t require any warm-up or cool-down time, they can be turn on or off instantly.

Gerritt Reinders, Energy Focus' VP of Solutions Sales, commented: "Using only about half the power of conventional fluorescent fixtures and about one third that of conventional metal halide fixtures our new retrofit product offers all the advantages of LED lighting - controllability, low maintenance and full output even at the coldest temperatures but with an important difference: Energy Focus' product can do it at only a fraction of the cost of 1st generation "high power" LED approaches."LEDs to distribute both the light and heat over the length of the four foot tube. That approach neatly solves the thermal problems normally associated with high output LED solutions without expensive heat sinks while allowing us to incorporate much of the hardware that's been devolved over the years for fluorescent."

we have been actively developing an international presence for our LED product lines

So as to further establish and advance our leadership position in LED lighting, we made the decision to vertically integrate our capabilities in connection with designing, engineering, and producing the solid-state electronics that control and power LEDs. For the past two years, we and our Montreal-based engineers at LSI Saco Technologies have been working with the talented engineering and manufacturing people at ADL Technology. As part of the LSI family, ADL will allow us to stay on the leading edge of product development while at the same time providing opportunities to drive down manufacturing costs and control delivery of key components. ADL's capabilities will also have applications in our other LED product lines such as digital scoreboards, and advertising ribbon boards and billboards. The owners of ADL will be joining the management team of LSI and we look forward to many benefits from this continuing relationship as we plan for the future and the resumption of growth in our markets and the general economy."

As I have stated in past conference calls, we have been actively developing an international presence for our LED product lines. I am pleased to say we now have our first UK based prototype installation in place and initial reports indicate the customer is extremely pleased with the results. . As more sites are converted to LSI's LED lighting fixtures, we will be putting in place a very aggressive marketing and sales direction. We see the opportunity for solid-state LED lighting to serve both the domestic and international markets. This rather dramatically expands our potential for higher sales and profits as we address export sales. We continue to place high value on maintaining a sound and conservative balance sheet. This will also be true after the ADL acquisition, as a significant form of consideration is expected to be LSI's common stock.

LSI Industries is an Image Solutions company, dedicated to advancing solid-state LED technology in lighting and graphics applications. We combine integrated technology, design, and manufacturing to supply high quality, environmentally friendly lighting fixtures and graphics elements for commercial, retail and specialty niche market applications.
