The addition of a new UV LED reactor will allow SemiLEDs to continue to build on the momentum of the rapidly growing UV LED market and confirms our position and commitment as a top supplier of led high bay light,” said Dr. Chuong Tran, SemiLEDs President and COO. “The addition of the new reactor will enable us to further improve the support and service we provide to a growing list of companies dedicated to the UV market through our broad portfolio of UV LEDs.
Lumileds said the new white paper goes beyond simple lumen maintenance data which describes how a single LED behaves and addresses the more common lighting system which uses multiple LEDs in a wide variety of use conditions.
An LED luminaire's usable life is determined by a manufacturer's determination of expected lumen maintenance and by the actual usable life of the many components included in the system. Each of the LED high bay lighting components must be analyzed independently in order to provide an accurate assessment.

the control and dimming of compact fluorescent lamps and LED lamps
Different moods, activities and times of the day require different light levels. Digitally controlled and infinitely variable digitally dimmable lights, for example at the workplace, not only save energy, but also ensure the right ambience at any given time. With Dulux Intelligent Dim Lamps by OSRAM, replacing conventional incandescent led high bay light with compact fluorescent lamps is simple and straightforward.
Working with dimmer manufacturers Insta, Berker, Gira and Jung, OSRAM is currently in the process of developing Leditron, the new industrial standard and the "future of dimming".The new Dulux Intelligent Dim Lamps with Leditron technology are the right choice forpremium applications such as hotels or restaurants, offices or in the home. In modern systems for the control and dimming of compact fluorescent lamps and LED lamps, they are immediately ready for use without addressing.
Even greater lighting comfort in combination with energy savings will be available in the very near future thanks to a new dimmer and control technology currently under joint development by OSRAM and dimmer manufacturers Berker, Gira, Jung and Insta. Under the motto "The future of dimming", the companies present the new Leditron standard at the Light + Building 2010 trade fair.
Up to now, only a few models of compact fluorescent lamps - or energy saving lamps – have been suitable for dimming. Occasional accompaniments such as flickering or uneven dimming will be made a thing of the past thanks to Leditron.
The basic principle of LED high bay lighting this new technology is to replace dimmers by control units and to send the control information via the mains to the lights connected to a particular circuit. In this way, not only the brightness of the lamps can be varied, but for suitable lights on LED basis, the idea is also to control the light colour simply and standard-compliant.

the most diversified product selection in the industry
It is unfortunate that we and our customers have had to suffer through a costly, protracted court battle on this issue,” Perrachon added. “However, the court’s decision is a real victory for the led high bay light industry as a whole. We are confident it will help prevent unethical practices of companies who use legal manipulation in an attempt to extract fees from real manufacturers, and, as a result, increase customer costs.”
Established in 1987, Fallon Luminous Products is the supplier of choice for discriminating and high profile buyers of custom point-of-sale, retail and decorative lighted signage. Fallon provides the most diversified product selection in the industry, and ensures the highest quality and value, using state-of-the-art technology and only the finest materials.
the UK based leader in applied LED technology, announces the acquisition of BTI Light Systems A/S ("BTI"), a Danish company offering signaling and safety equipment for the wind, marine and airport industries. BTI is being acquired from its management for a total consideration of DKK 26m (£3.0m), DKK 18m (£2.1m) of which is payable in cash with the remainder in LED linear high bay light shares.Operating out of Copenhagen, BTI's product portfolio comprises obstruction lighting and aids to navigation for both onshore and offshore wind turbines and airports. In its most recent audited accounts for the year to 30 September 2009, BTI reported revenues of DKK 32.1m (£3.7m), an EBIT of DKK 3.8m (£0.45m), a profit after tax of DKK 2.8m (£ 0.3m) and gross assets of DKK 15.2m (£1.8 m). The acquisition is expected to be earnings accretive in 2010. The Chief Executive of BTI, Mr. Max Hansen, will remain with the business for a period of at least two years.

LED lighting companies in the marketplace
Digital Lumens develops LED-based Intelligent Lighting Systems that reduce industrial customers' electricity expenses up to 90% and transform industrial lighting into a powerful platform for improved control, efficiency and operational insight. Incorporating intelligent local control, centralized control and custom-designed LED linear high bay light luminaires into a single system, the company is defining a new class of lighting solution for customers.
LED bulb is expected to outperform currently available products that may be underwhelming consumers right now. YAHAM scientists and engineers designed the bulb to better direct light downward on the intended surface and all around, not just out the top of a lampshade, as most current LED bulbs are prone to do. The new GE LED bulb offers 450 lumens—the Energy Star? threshold to be considered a 40-watt incandescent replacement. Currently available LED bulbs produce 350 lumens or less. GE has filed multiple patent applications for the bulb and expects it will be an ENERGY STAR qualified LED omnidirectional light bulb.
Since 2002, the IES team has engineered dozens of innovative lighting products for many of the largest and fastest growing LED lighting companies in the marketplace. Among these products is a leading led high bay lights for utilities that is currently being deployed in the U.S., with additional near-term opportunities to provide the street light to international customers. The foundation for IES’s success is its expertise and market leading technology in the areas of LED power drivers, light engines, and thermal management solutions. This expertise and technology enables IES to design and manufacture high quality LED lighting products with strong competitive advantages because of their compelling returns on investment. The superior financial returns IES’s products deliver are driven by the ability of their lighting designs to maximize the energy efficiency savings for given light outputs.

the deciding factors for the Institute in selecting its system
Reducing light pollution is a growing priority worldwide, and exterior lighting, including streetlights, are a major part of the problem,” added Burton. “Getting IDA certification for our products reinforces our position as a leading provider of environmentally sustainable lighting products that can help governments and municipalities cost-effectively combat led high bay light pollution. We intend to secure certification for our other outdoor lighting products in the coming months.”
A custom LED testing installation from light metrology industry leader, Labsphere, has been chosen by the Shanghai Research Centre of Engineering and Technology for Solid-State Lighting for its LED life measurement lab. The Institute supplies LED testing services to local manufacturers of solid state lighting. The powerful system is the first of its kind in China, with potential to become the national standard in LED testing.
Labsphere’s high performance and strong local support were the deciding factors for the Institute in selecting its system. Locally made systems currently offer testing of only one parameter of a single, low-power LED linear high bay light at a time. The integrated system from Labsphere is able to perform a variety of optical and electrical test measurements on an array of up to 20 discrete LEDs, including high power lamps, in under 60 seconds.
